Employability & Enterprise

For those learners who aim to access college, work, supported internships, or an apprenticeship, we have developed smaller groups that give students the opportunity to access career related activities.

Our enterprise group allows students to decide on an enterprise project for the year. The group works together to decide their budget, order resources, make the items, and sell for a profit. This money is then re-invested into the scheme. Through enterprise, learners have the opportunity to understand the foundations of running a project for profit, managing their money, and selling to customers. Learners work together in a co-operative group, listening to each other and developing working relationships.

Our employability group follows a comprehensive scheme of work to equip students for the world of work. Whilst students may access work through a supported setting, the employability curriculum allows students to gain an understanding of the fundamentals of working. Additionally, students will cover topics such as social media, health and safety, and wellbeing.

Phonics & Numeracy

Our phonics and numeracy lessons run as small intervention groups for students who require these skills.  

These skills are then utilised and developed through skills for life, employability and enterprise sessions.

We follow the Sounds-Write phonics programme; an expertly structured programme, designed by teachers.

Equals

Learners in the KS3 follow an Equals-based curriculum, with elements still being covered in KS4 and KS5.

Learners follow the pre-formal, semiformal or formal provision, based their provision.

The Equals curriculum offers learners skills for life opportunities including cooking, snack preparation, travel training, shopping, horse riding, and, swimming.

ASDAN

Our accreditation groups follow the ASDAN personal progress programme.

This covers a wide variety of topics that prepare students for experiences, provisions and work post-18. Learners accumulate credits by completing units throughout their time in the accreditation groups (KS4-5), with their credit value totalled in the summer of Year 13.

  • Learners who accrue 8 credits will receive an Award qualification.
  • Learners who accrue 14 credits will receive a Certificate qualification.
  • Learners who accrue 25 credits will receive an Extended Certificate qualification.
  • Learners who accrue 37 credits will receive a Diploma qualification.
  • Learners who accrue fewer than 8 credits will be awarded a unit certificate, provided they have met the full requirements of the unit(s).

  • Developing skills for the workplace: Health & Safety
